The Filipinos are commemorating the 25th anniversary of the EDSA People Power Revolution this year. A historical event that happened in 1986, EDSA People Power Revolution tested the unity among the Filipino people. It paved the way to a bloodless restoration of the country’s democracy from the dictatorship of Ferdinand Marcos.
Well, much about history, I will probably just give you a link to a wiki containing nifty details of the revolution’s history. But wait, I found an interesting piece online which I think everyone will enjoy reading with no fuss.
Do you want to read the story of the EDSA Revolution through Facebook? The guys at gmanews.tv did a great job in making it happen.
When most people today spend their time online in social media especially Facebook, it would be interesting to tackle history the Facebook way.
In an article called “It was complicated: EDSA 1 as told through Facebook”, the authors made Facebook stories out of the critical events in the Philippine politics history. From the death of Ninoy Aquino up to the time when Marcos and his family fled the country, the rather boring history lesson gets a new ecstatic impression.
The events, players and the status updates are all based on fact. The comments are totally imagined.
