SuTuKil: A seafood experience in Cebu

SuTuKil which stands for Sugba (grilled), Tula (stewed) and Kilaw (prepared raw in vinegar) is one of the signature offering of Cebu to the seafood gourmands. It is a touristy experience to try because everything has been too much commercialized; the fresh seafood is just priced so high based on my experience with other similar restaurants in Roxas City and Iloilo. Nevertheless, still a worth trying experience when in Cebu.

The restaurants offer variety of fresh seafoods from the crustaceans to a large fish but you need to get the whole one in per kilo basis. Your order will be cooked the SuTuKil way and for the shelled and crustaceans they have several choices, such as sizzling gambas etc. Have a cozy meal by the riverside and most of the SuTuKil restaurants there have a loft with a native ambience that complements the setting where you can enjoy your SuTuKil while breathing fresh air.

The SuTuKil restaurants can be found in Lapu-lapu City in Mactan Island, Cebu just beside the Mactan Shrine. Tourists who are visiting the Mactan Shrine are most likely to have a shot of the SuTuKil nearby. SuTuKil restaurants are similar to Baybay Strip in Roxas City in Capiz where seafood of all kinds abounds but at a relatively cheaper price.

P.S. Just a tip though, make sure to bring a cash with you if you don’t want to spend an extra 5% of your chit if you use a credit card. This is based on our experience at Manna SuTuKil.
