Masbate once belong to the Philippine’s list of the poorest provinces but after few years since I last visited the place, I can already tell its progress. New establishments are sprouting everywhere like mushrooms. Chained shops started to put up branches in the city that includes Jollibee, South Star Drug, Mister Donut among others.
Recently, another addition to Masbate’s slowly picking up economic development is the establishment of LCC Department Store and Supermarket. LCC is a local mall, supermarket and department store chain in Bicol Region.
I am glad that we can finally enjoy shopping at a fully airconditioned department store without going elsewhere. Before, Masbatenos have limited options for shopping needs. We used to shop at the homegrown department store called Sampaguita and from the rest of the tiangges and other retailers in the ‘Lugsadan’ strip.
LCC Department Store Masbate branch opened last December 9, 2010 just in time for the Christmas shopping rush. It is located along Zurbito Street near the Masbate Pier. It features a supermarket and several small shops on the first floor such as; Penshoppe, Oxygen, Aficionado, Lotto Outlet and LBC while the second level is fully occupied by the department store. Although the overall area is relatively smaller than the regular malls we usually see, nevertheless, it is still a welcome development for Masbate.
LCC Department Store has definitely taken Masbatenos’ shopping experiences to the next level.
