The Philippines has some of the best diving sites in the world and people come here from all over to learn to scuba dive or continue their love affair with the depths. The best place to do this is definitely Bohol, an island province in the Central Visayas. You can get here by flying from Manila, or by hopping on flights to Malaysia which is also nearby.

Bohol has several highly rated diving schools who will take you out into the sea to see turtles, barracuda and other big fish like tuna. The reefs here are incredibly beautiful and you will be blown away by the different colours of the sea floor. To best enjoy this you should get qualified as a PADI Open Water Diver – this will allow you to dive down to a significant depth and give you the confidence to explore the beautiful sights that the seas around Bohol offer.
This island is generally a good place to go on holiday – if you tire of scuba diving you can relax on its beautiful beaches, or check out Danao Adventure Park where you can zip-line, go river tubing and see some interesting cultural sights. There are also several uninhabited islands close to Bohol; you can head off on tours which will allow you to explore these stunning islands, where you can relax and forget about the world. Finally you can check out the Chocolate Hills, a curious geological formation of over 1,200 mounds that look beautiful against the setting sun.
This area is an excellent place for diving holidays in general. The warm seas have allowed beautiful coral to grow, which in turn attracts marine life. Another destination to highlight is nearby Sipadan in Malaysia – this island is amongst the most famous diving spots in the world and thousands of people travel across the globe just for a dive or two. You can see turtles, huge schools of fish and even hammerhead sharks.
Bohol diving holidays are a good way to spur an interest in scuba diving – the marine life is wonderful and the level of instruction is very good. Learning to scuba dive can be a bit intimidating and you need a good instructor to guide you through. You definitely won’t go wrong with a trip to this beautiful island.
