Last March 19 we were scheduled for a 3-day Cebu trip which we booked earlier in January to get 50% off on our airfares via the flunk Cebu Pacific Air. It was early in the morning so Aileen and I decided to just have the breakfast in the airport which we had it at JD Bakeshop in the terminal lounge. We left Iloilo earlier than our 9:05 am flight, something not as I expected because Cebu Pacific would ALWAYS be delayed. Sounds perking up, after more than 30 minutes of flying, we landed at the Cebu-Mactan International Airport. It was actually my first time to set foot in Cebu, so to make the most of our time in Cebu we immediately headed to the hotel to check in. We stayed at the Sampaguita Suites along Mango Avenue, just a stone throw away from Fuente Osmena. Other establishments near Sampaguita Suites are Robinsons Place Cebu just across, Raintree Mall and Mango Square.

After setting things up we went to Ayala Center Cebu and took our lunch there. The restaurants in our itinerary were all jam-packed, so we had hard time deciding where to eat as we were gearing to have our meals for the rest of the trip in at least a known local restaurant brand in Cebu. Good thing I have a contact to The Photoblogger (Vann) who gave us an idea where to eat and since Hukad / Golden Cowry and Moon Café were full, we decided to take Siam Thai Restaurant. The food was good (especially the Pad Thai) and the prizes were almost similar to the restos in Iloilo.
After lunch we strolled all around the corners of Ayala Center until around 4PM and went to the Basilica del Santo Niño and to the Magellan’s Cross. We were supposed to hit Fort San Pedro but we were so tired to find it (although our map says it was just nearby) so we decided to take a snack at the La Fortuna Bakeshop in the Shrine and headed back to the hotel.

For dinner, we went back to the Terraces in Ayala Center to try our luck to have a place in either Hukad or Mooon Café but I just realized it was a Friday (TGIF), so we patiently waited at the Mooon Café to take our turn because the crowd over at Hukad was just grim. Nevertheless, it was somehow worth the wait, we had a hearty dinner at Mooon café. To cap the night we decided to stay away from The Terraces and went to the Asiatown IT Park, but before we got there, we had to wait again and fall in a long line to ride a cab.
The IT Park has a lot to offer for a night owl but we were looking for a place where we can have beer and coffee at the same time. “The Walk” was jam-packed and we could not find a place there so we decided to go further only to find out that nowhere in there we could find a place serving what we want to, mostly coffee shops and restaurants occupy the spaces. Much to our disappointment, we decided to just go to the Mango Square near the hotel for me to take my alcohol fix, and to satisfy Aileen’s crave for dessert (or something sweet). After a bottle of beer, we went back to the hotel to regenerate for the next day’s adventure.
P.S. Upon riding a public jeepney we sighted a trailer selling Chilen Chicharon along Colon so we bought bunch of Chicharon there.
