Boracay Trip November 2009
Posted by Junnjun M. | November 18th, 2009Nov 18
Our haltered Boracay Trip had been finally realized. I and the rest of my colleagues planned the trip in the first weekend of October but due to the devastation of the Typhoon Ondoy a week before we were threatened by the next typhoon (Pepeng) which was forecasted to be a super typhoon to take a landfall on the day we were set to leave for Boracay. So we diverted our trip to something adventurous and tried any nearby attractions (Read: ). We rescheduled Boracay trip on the first weekend of November as agreed by the group.
Caticlan Jetty Port Terminal
November 7, Saturday, all set to go, we left Tigbauan at around 4:30 AM via Iloilo-Antique-Caticlan route. We decided to take this way as it was a bit closer to our location (Tigbauan) and we’ve heard that the roads in that route are more concreted than in the other route (Iloilo City – Caticlan via Capiz). It was my first time to get to Antique and to set foot on it. The trip was really an adventure; we traversed through the breathtaking rolling mountain ranges of Iloilo and Antique at dawn. When we reached San Jose, the capital of Antique, we had our first stopover at the plaza then we continued with the journey. Albert and Anna prepared a roasted chicken the night before for our trip’s sustenance, so we looked for a perfect spot for the stop over to eat those juicy poulets. We were delighted by a rainbow while we were eating which was a perfect complement as we face a rice field being nurtured by the farmer. We arrived in Caticlan at around 9 AM totaling the travel time to at least 4 hours and 30 minutes. We boarded a vessel to the paradise island; fare is only at 25 Pesos but adding up some environmental fees and other thingy costed us a total of 125 Pesos per person. Jumping off Boracay Jetty Port, we hired a van (45 Pesos/ person) to take us to the resort where we were staying, Bamboo Boracay Beach Resort in Station 3 of the white sand beach stretch. It was my first time in Boracay (passed up at least 3 opportunities before to visit this place due to some reasons).
Upon setting things up, we went out to have a cup of coffee and look around. We spent the whole Saturday roaming around the beach and in the interiors of D’mall. At night we walked the stretch of white sand beach this side of the island. It was fun walking in the shore barefooted; it relaxes your feet when it touches those fine white sand particles. After the unlaxing yet fagging out strolling we decided to eat a buffet dinner at the resort we were staying. There after we had some beer and a bottle of Jack Daniels to soothe up the night.

On the second and last day of our stay in Boracay we were set to go on an island hopping (costs 1500Php for 3-4 hours with complete gears for snorkeling plus 100Php insurance fee for the group). It was really a great experience. I was really amazed with how beautiful and glorious the underwater world is. I can’t get enough mingling with those tiny sea creatures in the pristine waters surrounding the Crocodile Island. We even got to see sea urchins beneath the crystal clear waters. We also had a glimpse of Manny Pacquiao’s place, which is a mansion attached to a huge rock formation next to the sea. After hopping around to the nearby islets and other parts of Boracay we went back to Station 3 where we jumped off. On the next day, we left the island early morning. Along the way from Caticlan to Iloilo we had a sidetrip to Gaisano Mall of Antique in San Jose to have our repast and we arrived in Tigbauan at around 10:30AM.
